Quick help

Install, remove, and recover.

Install

Download the latest DMG from GitHub Releases, open it, and drag Ousia into Applications. On first launch, choose a default workspace folder—~/Documents/Ousia works fine.

Remove

Drag Ousia from Applications to the Trash. To also remove desktop state and logs, delete the app's application-data folder and ~/.ousia. Pi's own files in ~/.pi are left untouched.

Troubleshoot

Update to the latest release first. If a session misbehaves, interrupt it, then compact the conversation or branch from an earlier message. Structured logs live in ~/.ousia/logs.

Frequently asked questions

The essentials.

Do I need the Pi CLI installed?

No. Ousia hosts the Pi agent inside the app, so no terminal session is required. Anything you have already configured in the Pi CLI or TUI—providers, credentials, models—is read from ~/.pi/agent and works in Ousia automatically, and vice versa.

Where does my data live?

Ousia keeps its project and session index, settings, and debug logs in its own application-data folder and ~/.ousia/logs. Pi remains the source of truth for providers, models, and session history in ~/.pi/agent.

Which models can I use?

Any Pi-compatible provider: Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, and others. Add your API keys in Settings, then choose the model and thinking level for each conversation.

Is there a Windows or Linux version?

Today Ousia ships as a macOS DMG for Apple silicon. The codebase is Electron-based and MIT-licensed, so other platforms can run it from source.

How do I update Ousia?

Download the newest DMG from the Releases page and replace the app in Applications. Release notes for every version stay there too.
